The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.

The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.

The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.

Mister Green you call yourself a University Academic Professional and accordingly you act as if you have no education at all in regards to the subject you chose to write about.

I would ask the "esteemed" Academic Professional where he has been or what he has done that would give him such an intolerant insight into this wonderful country that I have dedicated 20+ years of my life to protect? What makes you think that those Muslims who are US Citizens would not be chanting right alongside their Christian brothers? I challenge you Mister Green to debate with me, a simple non college educated soldier, to discuss the issue to which you have written a very bigoted and biased opinion about. I have traveled this planet and I have seen the best and the worst that it has to offer. I am proud to be an American Citizen and Soldier. I am proud of our country for being able to come together in times of need and work TOGETHER to heal. None of your wonderful EU countries offered near the amount of assistance that we have offered to them when tragedy fell on them. The USA stood united and overcame this terrible time on our own. Please prove to me sir where innocent Muslims and others live under threat of our planes, drones and soldiers. Those who live in fear of these and other weapons are those who should indeed fear the wrath of this mighty country. I've been there Mister Green and I have seen it first hand. Have you been anywhere that you could lose your life sir or have you lived a sheltered and bigoted existence your entire life?

You say "The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all" yet you seek to silence the political views of those you disagree with, could you be any more intolerant ?
Rather than set Muslim students up as the strawman in your article why don`t you say what you really mean ?
You`re the one who is offended by the chants of USA. You believe the US got what it deserved on 9/11, just as the US got what it deserved when 6 people were killed in the first attempt to blow up the World Trade Center, just as the 241 US Marines that were murdered in their barracks in Lebanon in 1983 got what they deserved and just as the 17 sailors that died on the USS Cole got what they deserved.
Not only are you an intolerant hypocrite you are a coward.

David Green exemplifies certain failings that are very common in academia: Ignorance, arrogance, and bigotry--not to mention a pathological hatred of America and a contempt for the soldiers who protect him as he lives his cocooned academic life.

I have met many academics over the years, and also many veterans: The average soldier is far wiser than the average academic, and a far more decent and civilized person. (Not to mention that soldiers have courage while your typical academic is a petty coward.)

are you seriously advocating that people be silenced based on your political views? The last time we allowed people to be silenced based on our disagreement with them on political issues in my home country, Germany, the results were not at all pleasant. The final result was a dictatorship and the biggest industrialized slaughter of people the world has ever seen. In that sense, feel free to lambaste the chanters for what you perceive to be ignorance all you want, but do not dare demand they be silenced you ignorant buffoon.

Pompous Pontifications Promote Paroxysms of Laughter

Mr. Green, I have to assume from your stiff, arch, and self-important denunciation of outward expressions of support for the USA that you inhabit a world occupied by overpriced coffee, books of poetry and "literary criticism" read by virtually nobody else but other "academic professionals", and a rather permanent sense of injustice that you are not taken as seriously as you know you should.

Sorry, fella. You can't be taken seriously. I'm not going to suggest that you can't BE serious because there's too much pomposity in what you wrote, and too much disdain for those who sign up for military service. I'm sure you consider yourself vastly superior to those whom you pity for their "poverty-drafting" into the services, but this is because you have no doubt never even bothered to TALK to someone who is serving. If you had, you would be aware that although many people do sign up for the military because they are hoping to advance themselves for the future, that the vast majority of them are very proud of their service and more to the point, are doing it because they believe in helping not only themselves but their country. So you can sit in your mock turtlenecks, surrounded by your unreadable literary works, pontificating on your "view" of the world, but try being a little more humble for a change. Your hubris is killing those of us who live in the real world.

White House: Global Warming Out, 'Global Climate Disruption' In

From the administration that brought you "man-caused disaster" and "overseas contingency operation," another terminology change is in the pipeline. 

The White House wants the public to start using the term "global climate disruption" in place of "global warming" -- fearing the latter term oversimplifies the problem and makes it sound less dangerous than it really is. 

White House science adviser John Holdren urged people to start using the phrase during a speech last week in Oslo, echoing a plea he made three years earlier. Holdren said global warming is a "dangerous misnomer" for a problem far more complicated than a rise in temperature. 

The call comes as Congress prepares to adjourn for the season without completing work on a stalled climate bill. The term global warming has long been criticized as inaccurate, and the new push could be an attempt to re-shape climate messaging for next year's legislative session. 

"They're trying to come up with more politically palatable ways to sell some of this stuff," said Republican pollster Adam Geller, noting that Democrats also rolled out a new logo and now refer to the Bush tax cuts as "middle-class tax cuts." 

He said the climate change change-up likely derives from flagging public support for their bill to regulate emissions. He said the term "global warming" makes the cause easy to ridicule whenever there's a snowstorm. 

"Every time we're digging our cars out -- what global warming?" he said. "(Global climate disruption is) more of a sort of generic blanket term, I guess, that can apply in all weather conditions." 

It's unclear why Holdren prefers "global climate disruption" over "climate change," the most commonly used alternative to "global warming." 

Asked about the speech, Holdren spokesman Rick Weiss said only that the Office of Science and Technology Policy has been transparent about Holdren's remarks. 

"The PowerPoint for Dr. Holdren's Oslo presentation has been public on our website since the day after he returned," he said. 

In a 2007 presentation, Holdren suggested a similar phrase change -- "global climatic disruption." 

The explanation he gave last week was that the impact from greenhouse gas emissions covers a broad "disruption" of climate patterns ranging from precipitation to storms to hot and cold temperatures. Those changes, he said, affect the availability of water, productivity of farms, spread of disease and other factors. 

He's not the first scientist to publicly veer away from "global warming." NASA published an analysis on its website in 2008 explaining that it avoids the term because temperature change "isn't the most severe effect of changing climate." 

"Changes to precipitation patterns and sea levels are likely to have much greater human impact than the higher temperatures alone," the report said. 

But Republicans predicted that re-branding the issue would have limited effect on the legislative effort. GOP strategist Pete Snyder said he doubts the term is going to change hearts and minds. 

"Are they going to change the name of weathermen to disruption analysts?" he quipped. GOP lawmakers already exploited a terminology change of their own by re-branding the "cap-and-trade" bill as "cap-and-tax." 

Holdren's "global climate disruption" isn't the most convoluted term to grace the climate debate, however. 

According to the NASA article, early studies on the impact humans had on global climate referred to the relationship as "inadvertent climate modification."

These Socialist despots will stop at NOTHING to force us to come under their collective(ists?) thumbs. Well, keeping in the spirit of this dying administration,  I have come up with a few new phrases of my own. Oh sure, I could say the Democratic Party itself is really "OBAMASpeak" for the Socialist Party. Or the "Stimulus Package" was "OBAMASpeak" for union payoffs. But, we already know those. We can say on November 6, 2012, that President Obama, on the advice of 50 million Americans, has decided to go through a "residence re-location" and will be changing his employment status to "less then employed". Wouldn't that be much nicer then saying he LOST his re-election by the biggest landslide in history? Or, "we threw the bum out"? We can say, NOT that the electorate rejected the Democrats socialist agenda but, we can say they voted for a "Republican-friendly" Congress. And when the Obama Health Care bill is finally repelled, we can call it an "un-insured option" added. But, with true OBAMASpeak. I will say from now on, not that Barack Obama was the worst President of all times. But, he was my 44th most favorite or he was in my "top 50".

Doing the DOJ’s Job for Them: Demanding Valid Voter Rolls Before November

I have sent notice letters to 16 states informing them that they are in violation of the National Voting Rights Act. Private lawsuits may follow if they do not comply.

As the saying goes: if you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself. If Americans don’t want dead and ineligible felons participating in elections, they will have to clean up the mess themselves, as Attorney General Eric Holder won’t do his job by enforcing the integrity protections in the “Motor Voter” law passed in 1993.

Motor Voter struck an important balance — it sought to increase voter registration, as well as ensure voter integrity. Welfare offices and motor vehicle offices became voter registration centers. But the law also required states to conduct list maintenance to ensure ineligible names don’t pollute the voting rolls. Dead people, ineligible felons, and people who moved away must be removed from the rolls by state election officials.

The attorney general was given the power to enforce both provisions of Motor Voter, yet Eric Holder is only interested in enforcing one. This attorney general simply won’t do his job and enforce the list integrity requirements.

During the Bush administration, the Justice Department enforced both Section 7 (the welfare office registration provisions) as well as Section 8 (the list integrity provisions). Section 7 cases were investigated and brought against multiple states, including Illinois and Arizona. Section 8 cases were investigated and brought against multiple states, like Missouri and Maine.

The decision of the Holder DOJ to ignore the integrity provisions of Section 8 is deliberate and corrupt. In November 2009, political appointee Julie Fernandes told the entire assembled DOJ Voting Section that the Obama administration would not enforce the list maintenance provisions of Section 8. Section 8 “doesn’t have anything to do with increasing minority turnout,” Fernandes said. “We don’t have any interest in enforcing that part of the law.” End of story.

At the same time, Fernandes stressed that the DOJ would vigorously enforce the welfare agency registration provisions of Section 7.

She made these lawless instructions in front of me and dozens of other shocked Voting Section lawyers. The DOJ has never once denied that Fernandes gave these instructions, nor has the DOJ countermanded them.

This lawless policy couldn’t have a partisan motivation, could it?

Now, Americans are left to clean up the voter rolls on their own. Thankfully, Motor Voter provides a private right of action — that means private citizens can bring lawsuits against states and voter registrars who are allowing dead and ineligible voters to taint the voter rolls.

Americans are used to getting the job done themselves. Reliance on government tends to disappoint.

Using this private right of action, I have given sixteen states the legal notice required to alert them that they have violated Section 8 of Motor Voter. I am working with private citizens across the nation to help ensure that the elections in November aren’t plagued by ineligible voters. If the states don’t fix the problem, private lawsuits may follow. The sixteen notice letters rely on publicly available data and describe problems in the voter rolls.

Every two years, states must report to the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) information about their voter rolls. The latest report is troubling. South Dakota, Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky and Indiana report in excess of a dozen counties with more registered voters than living people old enough to vote. Having more voters than living humans tells you something is wrong. In West Virginia, one county reported 113% of the voting age population was registered to vote. Baltimore, Maryland, reported 104% of voting age citizens on the rolls. Iowa and North Carolina also reported counties with more voters than living citizens of voting age.

All of these states received a notice letter.

Ponce de Leon wasted his time looking for the fountain of youth in Florida — he should have gone to Maryland, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Oregon, or Tennessee. These states report that they didn’t remove a single dead voter from 2006 to 2008. Some of the dead registered voters were resurrected on election day and cast ballots.

These states also received a notice letter.

Many counties in other states also have amazing longevity. Large numbers of counties in Alabama, Rhode Island, and Virginia report removing no dead voters in two years. Whatever they are drinking there, I’d like some quick.

Overall, all sixteen of these states received notice from me that they have violated Section 8 of Motor Voter because they have failed to maintain the integrity of their voting rolls. In the next 20 days, they will have the opportunity to explain why the data they reported to the EAC are wrong, or what has changed in the meantime. I will report on the responses here.

But if they are inadequate, private citizens may do what the DOJ refuses to: bring lawsuits to clean up the voter rolls before November 2, 2010.

Enforcement of Section 8 has become a bogeyman among some activist groups. They claim enforcement of the law is a sinister plot to deny the vote to eligible voters. Unquestionably, the hostility of Julie Fernandes originates in this fable. They crow that those concerned about integrity are engaged in “voter suppression.” They threaten to enlist the Justice Department to badger law-abiding citizens, apparently unaware that no such federal law exists pertaining to “voter suppression.” DOJ efforts to conjure legal theories of “voter suppression” have been met with embarrassing setbacks in the federal courts.

There are laws against voter “intimidation,” of course. But with the corrupt dismissal of the New Black Panther voter intimidation case, Eric Holder has set the bar very high on that score. Contrary to the claims of some, real legal standards define voter intimidation. Under no rational and credible legal theory do efforts to enforce Section 8 constitute voter intimidation. Shouting racial slurs and brandishing a weapon at voters? Yes, that’s intimidation. Making sure dead people aren’t on the voter rolls? No, that isn’t.

Some claim voter fraud doesn’t exist. They would be smart to reassess this myth. I have previously written at PJM that we have a long history of voter fraud, even if it doesn’t often affect election outcomes. I have cataloged dozens of instances of voter fraud at my blog, electionlawcenter.com, in just the last two months.

To opponents of effective list maintenance, Section 8 exists to threaten states who conduct robust purging programs. When Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez said that the DOJ is actually performing Section 8 functions, it was to advise states not to clean up voter rolls — as compared with my aim of enforcing the law against states who neglect to clean up the rolls. A nicely played trick of the tongue on his part.

The American story has always been about ordinary people making a better country on their own, without government. When government intentionally abdicates its responsibility, as the DOJ has done on this and other matters, it is up to private citizens to get the job done.

Whether it is the failure to secure American borders, or the failure to secure the integrity of our elections, the federal government is failing. Through the work and support of private citizens, hopefully only living, breathing, eligible voters will be casting ballots in November.

Curious how the Obama Junta doesn't seem to care about the integrity of our nations voting rolls. Along these lines, I read a posting on the "Pajama Media" website as a response to this article. It was from a gentleman who said he had lived in his present house for 8 tears and is a registered voter. He suddenly started receiving sample ballots for someone named "Pedro Gonzalez".As he says in his post, "I have contacted the Supervisor of Elections many times asking why this person is registered to vote using my address when I am the sole occupant." He goes on to say he received no response after numerous attempts to notify the election officials andd he continues to receive the ballots. Obviously, someone is voting using that name and that address. I have also read where in some areas people are contending that the voter roll number exceeds the number of people living in their districts. There have been stories through the years, of people that seem to be resurrected from their graves on election day. This "phenomenon" seems to manifest itself in Democratic districts. Funny how that happens......................

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Letting illegal immigrants go free? Hard to believe but that could be the new federal mandate if a proposed ICE policy change is approved.

Here's the idea: If authorities pull someone over for a traffic stop and discover they are in the country illegally, authorities would be forced to let the illegal immigrant go without calling federal agents unless the individual is a convicted felon.

Even officers opposed to SB 1070 say this would set a bad precedent.

Sheriff Tony Estrada of Santa Cruz County says nothing in southern Arizona would change if the detention policy changed. He says that's because his deputies turn these kinds of cases over to Border Patrol anyway.

Just as some of the debate swirling around Arizona's new immigration law began to cool off, a possible new Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy has some mad hot.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu is very upset about possible policy changes to ICE that read in part, "Immigration officers should not issue detainers against an alien charged only with a traffic-related misdemeanor unless or until the alien is convicted."

Babeu said "now it appears what they have in some draft policies and their proposal is to water down any strength in the federal law whatsoever and this is clearly in direct opposition of what the people really want."

Even Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada, who leaned strongly against SB 1070, thinks this sort of federal policy change is suspect. "It is surprising they would make that decision. I would suspect once an individual is identified as being here illegally, some process would kick in...that would deport that person," he said.

Ariz. Sen. Jon Kyl weighed in, along with Texas Sen. John Cornyn, writing this to Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano:

"Based on our review of these memos, we are concerned that these new policies would circumvent, rather than promote the enforcement of, immigration laws pertaining to illegal aliens."

Laws these politicians and law enforcement officers fear are getting a little bit too lax.

When the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security ORDERS law enforcement to DISREGARD our Constitution and our Federal law, and allows an INVADING FORCE to ILLEGALLY enter our country WITHOUT REPRISALS, she has, de facto, become an agent to a foreign power and THUS HAS COMMITTED AN ACT OF TREASON!!! VENTURA, CALIF. –  The grave site for an 1860s Army hero awarded the Medal of Honor is now a popular Ventura dog park with poop soiling what veterans say should be sacred ground.

"Talk to any veteran, he will tell you it is a terrible thing. It's disrespectful," said retired Marine Sgt. Craig "Gunny" Donor, who served two tours in Vietnam and is bent on getting the soldier's remains moved.

Pvt. James Sumner, who was awarded the nation's highest military honor for gallant actions after a band of Apache Indians kidnapped a settler's child, died in 1912 and he was buried in what was then St. Mary's Cemetery.

Most of the flat grave markers have been hauled away, but a few dozen markers still pepper the 7-acre Cemetery Memorial Park that was home to about 3,000 permanent residents. Most were never relocated.

The lush, well-manicured hillside patch of green on Main Street just a few blocks east of downtown Ventura has pine, thickets of overgrown junipers and a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and Ventura Pier.

"It's a beautiful memorial park, a different kind of park because living people come to have fun. I would think those buried here would like that," said Jessi Burt, a 24-year-old park neighbor walking her boxer Ally.

Others jogging with dogs in the park say pet owners are good about cleaning up after the animals.

"The people who use the park are the most reverent, in my opinion. Sometimes, people will come up and pick up my dog's poop before I have a chance," said Beverly Karbum, 58, who was walking her Australian shepherd Roxanne.

Army records show Sumner was a 28-year-old immigrant from London who led the 1869 chase after the kidnapped child into a remote canyon in the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona. There was an ambush and a fierce firefight, but Sumner held off attackers until reinforcements arrived. Records don't indicate what happened to the child.

President Ulysses S. Grant awarded Sumner the Medal of Honor in 1870. Donor believes the medal is buried with him.

Sumner died in 1912 at age 72. He never married and there are no heirs, Donor said.

"I'm trying to get him moved to Bakersfield National Cemetery. He needs to be moved to a place of respect. Cemeteries are solemn places," said Donor.

But Ventura leaders have so far balked at moving Sumner.

"We are treating him pretty darn well, except for the poop," parks and recreation commissioner Sharon Troll told the Ventura County Star.

The commission voted July 21 to postpone for two months Donor's request to unearth Sumner.

Park commissioners have told Donor they're committed to a long-delayed effort to commemorate the area pioneers and military dead in the park.

But Donor, who lives in Fontana and is a state captain for the Patriot Guard Riders, a motorcycle club that honors fallen veterans, isn't convinced. He expects the fight to wind up in court.

"He has no family, no one else to stand up for him, except for his brothers and sister in arms," Donor said.

This is quite symbolic of the ObamaNation. An arrogant disrespect for a great American. A Medal of Honor winner is the bravest of the brave. But, the arrogant liberal scum are taking great joy in letting their dogs SHIT on a war hero. Because, that is what they think of America and our brave service men and women. 

Department of Justice ditches red, white and blue stars and stripes

Well, how interesting! It seems the U.S. Department of Justice has changed its  website. Gone are the colorful red, white and blue U.S. flag decorations on the page, 



replaced by stark black and white. 



And at the top of the page, is a rather interesting quote: 

"The common law is the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people." 

Catchy, huh? Just one tiny little (too small to be relevant obviously) point -- the quote is from C. Wilfred Jenks, who in the 1930's was a leading proponent of the "international law" movement, which had as its goal to impose a global common law and which backed ‘global workers' rights.' 

Call it Marxism, call it Progressivism, call it Socialism -- under any of those names it definitely makes the DOJ look corrupt in their sleek, new black website with Marxist accessories to match.

How very interesting that 'they' couldn't find a nice quote from one of our Founders. People, we have lost our Republic. We need to get it back ASAP.

The only surprise was that it wasn't red and included a hammer and a sickle! Then again, maybe it is more symbolic then we think. It is all black isn't it? The quote is from a proponent of a "New World Order". That too seems quite disconcerting. Generally, the whole thing makes me feel "icky". But, then again, I have felt that since January 20, 2009.
