The Japanese-born widow of a U.S. Marine killed in Iraq has the backing of the U.S. House of Representatives in her efforts to become a permanent U.S. citizen, but her family isn’t celebrating just yet.

Sgt. Michael Ferschke met Hota Ferschke when he was stationed in Okinawa. He was a reconnaissance officer and she was an administrative specialist.

When it was time for Ferschke to be deployed to Iraq, he proposed to Hota. They planned to marry and move to the U.S. when he was finished with his tour.

“He asked me to help her get her visa," Michael Ferschke's mother, Robin Ferschke, told FoxNews.com. "He wanted to be a dive school instructor in Florida.”

But when Hota found out she was pregnant a month after Michael left, he insisted that they get married right away. The couple was married over the phone in 2008. 

 

“He was so happy,” his mother said. “He wanted to do the right thing ... He wanted to get (married) as quick as he could, so Hota and the baby could be taken care of until he returned.”

Michael was killed in combat a month later from that day, and his family began making arrangements for their son's widow to come to the U.S. and raise their son, Michael or "Mikey."

But they quickly found out that U.S. immigration law wouldn’t allow them to do so. Since the couple never lived together or consummated the marriage, their marriage is recognized in every way except for immigration purposes, making Hota Ferschke unable to become a permanent U.S. citizen.

Hota temporarily moved to Maryville, Tenn., to raise Mikey with her late husband's family, but she returned to Okinawa a year ago in light of the immigration snag and to resume her job. 

“The pain of my son never goes away, [but] a month later you can’t find out that his wife can’t come here,” Robin Ferschke told FoxNews.com.

Though the Defense Department recognizes the marriage and paid for death benefits to the Ferschkes, the Department of Homeland Security does not.

“A country my son has died for has put us through living hell,” Robin told FoxNews.com

As far as the Ferschkes and lawmakers can tell, this has never happen before. In effort to make an exception for service members in such immigration cases, the family teamed up with lawmakers such as Rep. Jimmy Duncan, R-Tenn., and drafted The Marine Sgt. Michael H. Ferschke Jr. Memorial Act, which the House approved through a voice vote Monday.

"I’m very hopeful, but I’m very scared because I’ve been hopeful before and it gets shot down," Robin Ferschke told FoxNews.com.

The bill does not get rid of the requirement for consummation of marriage for immigration purposes. It only allows for the narrow exception for military members who married while deployed, stating “in cases where the failure to consummate the marriage is caused by a physical separation due to active-duty military service aboard by one of the parties.”

The Senate will now vote on the bill. But the family is apprehensive about the legislation's future. Robin Ferschke explained that similar measures have been previously blocked by lawmakers.

“This is a tragic issue, my son is a hero… he gave his life for his country,” Robin Ferschke said. “All I ask for them to do is to look at this differently.”

The Obama administration has displayed, more then once, their hatred for Asians. This is not the first time they has gone out of their way to manufacture an excuse to deny an Asian spouse of an American citizen entry into the USA.  I have commented before on the ObamaNAZI's  underhanded denial of a visa for radio hall of fame host Art Bell's wife Airyn. Mrs. Bell was denied a Permanent Resident Alien Visa, a.k.a. a "Green Card", after being granted a visitor's visa, known as a "blue card", and giving birth to their daughter while living in Nevada.

After the Bell's filed for Mrs. Bell's "Green Card" and getting a receipt that the application and other necessary documentation had been received by the Department of Homeland Security, the Bell's had a need to return to the Philippines for business reasons. Prior to returning, they contacted DHS to ask if it would affect their pending application. DHS said no, as long as they knew where to contact them. So, they left the USA. While in the Philippines, the Obama gang takes control of the government. Once in charge, the ObamaNAZI's first tried to state she missed an appointment then, changed their story and said they never received the documentation. This is the same documentation the Bell's had a receipt that Homeland Security had SIGNED FOR! 

However, I think the underlying reason is far more sinister. Just within the past week, in Los Angeles, we had a murder occur. The murder was of an elderly Japanese lady living in the "Little Tokyo"  section of town. She was at the station of the "Gold Line" which is one of the Light Rail train lines in L.A. The Gold Line runs through "Little Tokyo" which is close to "Skid Row". While at the station with a her sister, 84-year-old Betty Sugiyama was pushed off the platform by 44 year old Jackkqueline Pogue, an African-American resident of the Skid Row area.

The suspect said nothing as she stood up from the bench she was sitting at. She pushed the victim off the platform onto the tracks then returned to her seat like nothing happened. The victim died at a local hospital from head injuries. The suspect was immediately arrested from the L.A.P.D. arrived. I believe I have had the opportunity to hear the rantings of this murder previously while riding on the bus to downtown in the past. 

While on Skid Row, I saw many Asian church groups come to skid row trying to help the 10,000 homeless. Many of those homeless are African-American. A number of times I have heard very mean comments from a number of those African-American homeless against those same Asians. I will say, no, it was NOT the majority. Most were quite appreciative. But a substantial number were very cruel in their comments and very condescending to these groups. To a point where Asian business owners that still had shops on Skid Row were called bloodsuckers. This occurred when they were the only ones who dare open businesses there and were continually subject to shoplifting and theft.

 

Does Hollywood Cause People To Become Delusional Or Does It Attract Them?

 There are times when someone makes a statement so outlandish, you wonder in they have suddenly fallen victim to a mental illness. You think of this when someone of celebrity stature makes that statement. Because its difficult to imagine that someone could attain that much success and be a COMPLETE IGNORAMUS! Case in point. The above video. Here we have a reasonably wealthy and successful performer. I am sure she has a very nice home, if not in the Hollywood Hills, probably in an equally "well to do" neighborhood. She probably has some assets and also a "healthy" bank account. So why would this person call for a economic system that would strip her of all of that and cast her down to an "average worker" working in a field or a factory to earn their government issued rations?  Well, I can think of 2 reasons. One, she has fallen victim to a mental illness. I know plenty of you out there will subscribe to that one from many comments I have read. Or, she is so out of touch with reality, she can no longer think of any other type of economic situation other then her present state. Or a possible third..... she is PATHETICALLY STUPID! 

I have, through the years, heard of some of the statements she has made. Some show such limited thinking, it causes me to lean to the third reason. But, being someone living in Los Angeles, I cannot fully discount the other two. You see, these "celebrities" may live in the greater Los Angeles area but, they really DON"T live "IN" Los Angeles. The circles they travel in are so isolated from the rest of the area, they would NOT have a clue as to where they were if the ventured outside of it or weren't escorted through it. Do you really think the she has ever gone to, lets say, downtown Los Angeles with its 10,000 homeless people? Or East L.A. which is primarily Latino? What about South Central and its overwhelmingly large African-American population? Bet not. She would probably hide from them even if she knew. or cared, that they existed. And guess what Rosie? You will be standing on the food line with ALL I mentioned if you get your way!!! No more "special favors" for you. Now, go pick those crops!!!!

The State of California, in an infinite lack of intelligence, returned former Governor Jerry Brown to Sacramento. Brown. who was Governor from 1975-1983, had been known for turning a $6 Billion surplus into a $1 Billion deficit and being a "slave" to unions and special interests, campaigned on giving control back to local governments. However, as Mayor of the City of Oakland, Brown, once again, raised taxes and paid 47.5% Of Its Employees More Than $100,000. Perhaps more startling is the astronomical increase -- 740 percent -- between 2003-04 and 2005-06 in the number of city employees earning more than $200,000. This despite campaigning on fiscal responsibility.

Not only did Brown raise taxes and pay his associates large sums of money, his administration in Oakland was scandal ridden with charges of sexual harassment and pay outs of large sums of money to settle those claims. He also retained the people accused of the misconduct in their 6 figure incomes. Also, Oakland has paid city employees millions of dollars in bonuses, leaves, cash-for-vacation deals and auto allowances in recent years, far exceeding compensation set in labor contracts and with little or no oversight, according to a city auditor's report.

According To City Auditor Courtney Ruby's Findings: 

·        The city granted $3 million in management leaves in 2005 and 2006, hundreds of thousands of dollars more than allowed under work contracts or other city rules.

·        At least 10 executive managers were granted leaves totaling more than $97,000 during that period.

·        From 2004 to 2006, the city awarded $388,000 in cash to 324 employees for special recognition or job bonuses and had few guidelines for how payments were awarded.

·        The city pays nearly $700,000 a year for automobile allowances for 238 employees.” (Christopher Heredia, “Millions Extra Paid To Oakland Employees,” San Francisco Chronicle, 11/29/07)

Between 2003 and 2005, Brown [Former Oakland city Controller Larae Brown] found more than 950 city employees who were paid 22,000 hours for time they never worked. When city officials tried to correct the problem, Edgerly rejected it and said the money awarded would be recategorized as a ‘beneficial past practice,’ the suit claims.

However, with all of these scandals, debt, taxes, the people of California decided they would rather return him to the Governors mansion then elect a very successful businesswoman in Meg Whitman. As a side note. I heard a neighbor say after finding out the election results, "I'm glad those bitches lost". Referring to Ms. Whitman and Senatorial candidate Carly Fiorina.

As you can blatantly see, the notion about Californians as being "free spirits" and open-minded is a total fallacy. I have experienced some of the most hateful people in this state. However, the ones I met have had one thing in common. They ALL are "dyed in the wool" Democrats who ALWAYS vote for the most socialist of candidates. They sit around with their hands out, are arrogant and condescending, and think anybody who has built and ran business as "evil" and need to be exterminated.

Sanchez: Vietnamese, GOP trying to take her seat

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Orange County Democratic Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez told a reporter in Spanish that "the Vietnamese" and Republicans are trying to take her seat in Congress.

Sanchez's opponent, Republican Assemblyman Van Tran, asked for an apology Thursday, the Orange County Register reported.

The reference sparked a heated debate about the close race on political blogs and local talk radio.

George Andrews, Tran's campaign manager, said the comment on national television was an attack against immigrants and the Vietnamese community.

"The 47th congressional district belongs to the people and not an individual ethnicity," Andrews said.

The remark came as Sanchez was being interviewed by Jorge Ramos on Univision's Sunday morning show, "Al Punto."

"The Vietnamese and the Republicans are — with an intensity — trying to take away this seat, this seat (from which) we have done so much for our community, take away this seat from us and give it to this Van Tran, who's very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic," she said in Spanish.

Her campaign says her statement referred to members of the Vietnamese community who are supporting Tran, who was evacuated by the U.S. Army from Vietnam just before the fall of Saigon in 1975.

He was the first Vietnamese-American to be elected to a state legislature. Sanchez was elected to Congress in 1997.

The 47th congressional district is 70 percent Hispanic and 9.5 percent Vietnamese. Half of its residents were born outside the U.S.

What we are seeing here is the same thing those of us who live in Southern California, already know. The arrogance and racism of Mexicans. There are many people across the United States who have heard of the problems our porous boarder has caused. However, the one thing nobody in the liberal media dare address is, the inherent arrogance of those Mexicans who do ILLEGALLY CROSS THE BOARDER. Lies, Damn Lies -- Obamacare 6 Months Later, It’s Time to Take Back the 20!

It’s now six months since President Obama took control of one-sixth of the private sector economy with his health care “reform,” and the first changes to our health care system come into effect on Thursday, September 23. 

Despite overwhelming public dislike of the bill, we were told that D.C. knows best, and there was nothing to worry about, and we’d be better off swallowing the pill called Obamacare; so, in defiance of the will of the people, the president and his party rammed through this mother of all unfunded mandates. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Congress had to pass the bill so that Americans could “find out what is in it.” We found out that it’s even worse than we feared.

Remember when the president said, “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”? Not true. In Texas alone a record number of doctors are leaving the Medicare system because of the cuts in reimbursements forced on them by Obamacare! The president of the Texas Medical Association, Dr. Susan Bailey, warns that “the Medicare system is beginning to implode.”

Remember the Obama administration’s promise that Obamacare would cut a typical family’s premium “by up to $2,500 a year”? Not true. In fact, fueled by reports that insurers expect premiums to rise by as much as 25 percent as a result of Obamacare, Senate Democrats are contemplating the introduction of price controls.

Remember when the president said in his address to Congress that “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions”? That turned out to be yet another one of those “You lie!” moments. We found out that Obamacare-mandated high risk insurance pools set up in states like Pennsylvania and New Mexico will fund abortions after all.

Remember the promise that Obamacare would “strengthen small businesses”? Not true either. The net result of Obamacare is that small businesses will face higher health care costs, new Medicare taxes, and higher regulation compliance costs, while the much-hyped health care tax credit for small businesses turns out to be almost impossible to obtain.

Remember the president’s promise that his bill would ensure “everyone [has] some basic security”? False again. Besides the great uncertainty that Obamacare hampers businesses with, companies now find it is actually cheaper to pay the $2,000 per employee fine imposed by Obamacare than to keep insuring their workforce. This leaves millions of American workers at risk of losing their employer-provided health insurance.

And remember when the Obama administration said they would not be “rationing care” in the future? That ol’ “death panels” thing I wrote about last year? That was before Obamacare was passed. Once it passed, they admitted there was going to be rationing after all. There has to be. 

The reality of Obamacare is that it enshrines what the New York Times called “The Power of No” – the government’s power to say no to your request for treatment of the people you love. 

The fact that the president used a recess appointment to push through the nomination of Dr.Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services tells you all you need to know about this administration’s intentions. After all, Berwick is the man who said, “The decision is not whether we will ration care – the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

By the way, when the administration was talking about that independent board that has the statutory power to decide which categories of treatment are worthy of funding based on efficiency calculations (that, again, sounded to me like a panel of faceless bureaucrats making life and death decisions about your loved ones – which, again, is what I referred to as a “death panel”), it was another opportunity for Americans to hear the truth about Obamacare’s intentions.

So, yes, those rationing “death panels” are there, and so are the tax increases that the president also promised were “absolutely not” in his bill. (Aren’t you tiring of the untruths coming from this White House and the liberals in Congress?) 

When the state of Florida filed a challenge to Obamacare on the basis that the mandates in the bill are unconstitutional, the Obama Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss the suit by citing the Anti-Injunction Act, which blocks courts from interfering with the federal government’s ability to collect taxes. Yes, taxes! 

Once the bill was passed it was no longer politically inconvenient for the Obama administration to admit that it makes no difference whether the payment is a tax or a penalty because it’s “assessed and collected in the same manner.” The National Taxpayer Advocate has already warned that “Congress must provide sufficient funding” to allow the IRS to collect this new tax. 

Pretty soon we’ll be paying taxes just to make it possible for the IRS to collect all the additional taxes under Obamacare! Seems as if this is another surprise that the public found out about after the bill was rammed through.

But perhaps the most ridiculous promise of all was the president’s assurance that Obamacare will lead to “bending the curve” on health care spending. Yes, rationing is a part of the new system, and yes, Obamacare does raise taxes. But because the new government managed system is so incredibly complicated and expensive to run, health care spending will actually rise instead of fall. 

Don’t believe me? Then take a look at the Congressional Budget Office’s admittance that the CBO’s original estimate of the total costs of the bill were off by around $115 billion. Its new estimate is now above $1 trillion, and even that may be way too low. A more realistic figure calculated by the Pacific Research Institute puts the number at $2.5 to $3 trillion over the next 10 years! -- This is probably what President Obama was referring to when he admitted recently that he had known all along that “at the margins” his proposals were going to drive up costs. Give us a break! 

Only in this administration would they refer to a $3 trillion spending increase as “marginal.” Next time he comes to us with another one of his harebrained proposals for a budget-busting federal power grab, let’s make sure we remember the president’s admission that he was lying all along when he told us his health care plan was going to cut costs. He is increasing costs. He admits it now. Period.

Higher costs and worse care – is it any wonder why people are overwhelmingly in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare? Politicians who have vacillated on this issue need to be fired. Candidates who don’t support “repeal and replace” don’t deserve your support. No amount of money spent on Washington’s “government-wide apolitical public information campaign” (otherwise known as “propaganda”) will convince Americans that this awful legislation is anything other than a debt-driven big government train wreck. We need to repeal and replace it, and that can only happen if we elect a new Congress that will make scrapping Obamacare one of its top priorities. We can replace it with pro-private sector, patient-oriented reform that the GOP has proposed.

On March 23, when Obamacare was signed into law, I launched my “Take back the 20” campaign, focusing on 20 congressional districts that John McCain and I carried in 2008 which are or were represented by members of Congress who voted in favor of Obamacare. They need to be held accountable for those votes. They voted for Obamacare. Now we can vote against them. We need to replace them with representatives who will respect the will of the people.

We have to send Washington a message that it’s not acceptable to disregard the will of the people. We have to tell them enough is enough. No more defying the Constitution. No more driving us off a financial cliff. We must repeal and replace Obamacare with patient-centered, results-driven, free market reform that provides solutions to people of all income levels without bankrupting our country.

It’s time to make a stand! Let’s take back the 20!

 I am not one prone to paranoia. However, I must admit, a statement my dear late mother made before her passing in 2000, seems to be prophetic. At that time, we had a situation in the "Little Havana" neighborhood of Miami. A little boy was being held and cared for by family members. The child came to America when his mother took him and tried to escape the oppressive regime of Fidel Castro's Cuba. In trying to escape across the Straights of Florida, the vessel they were in began to sink. The boys mother drowned. However, others who had joined them on their escape took the child to where is relatives were in Miami. 

 Bill Clinton was President at that time. He ordered the FBI and INS officials to get the boy and send him back to Cuba. A "standoff" occurred between the federal government and the boys family. Clinton ordered an assault on the dwelling. My Mother and I watched the video on CNN of the assault. As we were watching, my mother, a life-long registered Democrat, uttered a statement that chilled me to the bone. "The Stormtroopers are here". Mom passed away shortly thereafter. If she were still alive, I know she would be adamant about stopping the government taking so much control.

A few days before she passed away, she shared a "secret" with me. That "secret" which she had not told anyone else was simply, she had been voting Republican in her later years of life. She was able to vote her conscience once all her family members and also including herself, had passed on or retired because many members of her family would have lost their political jobs if, not only, Democrats had lost but, the party backed Democrats had lost. Since, the Republican Party was nearly non-existent in the city and county where I grew up in.

Who go to places like the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles, film there, of course never hiring anyone, then forcing ALL of the majority of African-American area residents to be LOCKED INTO BUILDINGS to keep them far enough away from them!
